Hockey Season Has Begun!

You would think Halloween was the biggest thing going at our house this weekend.

You would be wrong. At least as far as Ann Catheriene is concerned.

Last night the Huntsville Havoc had their home opener and AC had been living for it all week. Each time I would tell the girls they were going trick or treating on Saturday, she would say, "Yes, but we get to go to the hockey game Friday night!"

Don't you know that makes her Daddy's heart sing?!

Chris bought the girls new Havoc jerseys and when he brought them home, you could have heard AC screaming across the state line. But at the last minute, she decided she wanted to wear her shirt from last year's Melissa George Night at the Havoc game(and of course, that made my heart sing.)

Here they are, ready to go!

When AC saw me packing my camera, she asked if she could take hers so she could take pictures of her "boyfriend." Yes, you read that correctly. She LOVES #37 Travis Kauffeldt and will tell anyone who listens that he's her boyfriend.

Before the game she told me we had to hurry so she could go see Travis and tell him good luck or he would NOT score a goal! We got there in time for her to see him and sure enough, she told him good luck and he scored during the game!! After the game, we had the meltdown to end all meltdowns because he was in the locker room and she couldn't tell him good game. (I kid you not!) The child cried the entire way home. Heartbreak at such an early age :)

And I just have to include this sweet picture - look at those beautiful eyes :)

Speaking of the Havoc, this year's Melissa George Night is Saturday, January 9th. Make plans to come out and enjoy this great night of hockey to benefit the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund! It is a wonderful family night to help those precious babies in our NICU. We hope to see you there!

Family night? Havoc? Not unless you want your child exposed to unnecessary violence and the drunken dregs of society.

Why do you exposed your children to that travesty? Or, better question, why did you agree to tie the memory of your daughter to that travesty? Isn't there something better and more family appropriate that you could have attached Melissa's name to than the worst representation of hockey around? I know your husband played for the Channel Cats, but the Havoc is in no way the Cats, and they don't even recognize them. There is other hockey in Huntsville afterall, why that one.

Dear Anonymous,
I ordinarily would not respond to someone as cowardly as you who hides behind a cloak of anonymity. But you had the complete audacity to mention my child - who you never even knew - and imply that my husband and I are somehow disgracing her memory. How dare you! First of all, be a real man or woman and contact me and my husband and tell us face to face how you feel. Otherwise, I will ask that you never visit my blog again. Take your snide comments and drivel somewhere else because you are not welcome here.

Thanks to the generosity of the Havoc, we have raised close to $150,000 for the NICU at Huntsville Hospital through the jersey auctions on Melissa George Night. That money has been used to purchase life-saving equipment that is helping to save the lives of premature babies. I can assure you it means the world to the parents whose children are in that unit fighting to live.

In the meantime, I will continue to take my children to the Havoc games. And you can continue to grind whatever ax you have with the Havoc organization.

Just don't do it here.

Amy

Amy, I am so glad you responded to this. I saw it yesterday and couldn't believe someone would leave such a rude and hateful comment on your blog. I "Amen" your response.

Amy,
I'm so glad you replied to this. Who ever this is does not have one clue what they are talking about.
Anonymous Idiot,
First of all, have you been to a game? Obviously you haven't and if for some odd reason you have you need to come tomorrow night and stay for player trading card night!
You would see that these guys are the nicest and most caring hockey player I have EVER met! Like Monday night they were waiters at Logan's to raise money for UCP(United Celebral Palsy). Number two, you have NO RIGHT to say anything about Melissa George Foundation and what fundraisers are done for it. What kind of sick person would let alone think these think about an innocent child that did not make it, but the fact that you would comment something like to the mother of the child, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. And having the Melissa George Foundation as a special night at the Havoc is incredible. I have gone every year and the generosity of the Havoc fans is moving. They have raised so much money for these innocent children who other wise would not have a chance at life.
I'm so sorry Amy for this cold hearted person after you have poored your heart and soul to us. I also would like to Thank You. You have made me rethink this and not take stuff for granted so much.
Hope To See You Jan. 9th.
