It's a Girl!

Wow - Tuesday, November 14th, was quite a day! We welcomed Lily Baker George into the world at 12:21 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and has a head full of brown hair (which she got from her daddy!)

It is quite different adding another child to the family. And big sister Ann Catherine is adjusting well. She points at Lily and says "bay-bay" but then moves onto something else. I thought she would get really jealous when I held her, but she didn't. The look on her face when Lily cries, however, is hilarious. She just stares at her like "what is she doing?"

Chris and I are trying to make sure she gets equal attention because she's a baby too (she's only 17 months old). Chris has been a huge help! He makes sure that he gives Ann Catherine all the love she needs when I am taking care of Lily. And when Lily is sleeping, I make sure to put Ann Catherine in my lap and spend time with her. She loves for me to read books to her or to pat-a-cake. We are doing all we can to make sure she knows she is still important!

If you have children who were born close together, respond to my blog and tell me how you managed it! How did you give them equal attention? And how did you manage having two so young and so close together? Moms who have been there tell me the first couple of years are tough, but that after a couple of years it is wonderful because the two siblings are so close. Chris and I are so happy they'll grow up together and always have each other. In the meantime, we're learning how to juggle this busy household! So, feel free to tell me what worked for you. I would love to have some advice!

Congratulatioms Amy!! My oldest daughter, (my girls are 14 months apart)Lilli-Ann was in the NICU for the first 3 weeks of her life including her first Christmas. She will be 3 in about 2 weeks & you would never believe she was premature. Lilli & I would like to thank you for setting up the fund for the NICU & dedicating to a precious angel called to heaven. Hope we can see you at the lighting ceremony.

CONGRATULATIONS!! She looks like her Dad. I am so very happy for you both. She looks beautiful. Amy you are, along with Jerry and Kim,my favorite newscasters. I love watching your families grow. Enjoy every second! I have a 29 year old son in Iraq, and it seems like only a few years ago I was holding him in my arms as you are with you little ones! Take care and I hope to see you back soon.

Congrats!!
I have 4 children and the first two are 20 months apart and then number three came 14 months later. It was nice when they were little, but now that they are preteens it has gotten harder to keep them close. They fight over the same things the middle 2 are boys and are at the likeing girls age....they like the same ones. the baby is five and she was 4 months premature but is also just fine now. We have been moved to Kansas due to the military so I don't get to watch you on tv anymore, but I will keep up with you on here. Just remember, it does get easier, and buy 2 of every toy.

What beautiful children,as the mom of 8, 4 boys and 4 girls, ages 33to 19,I can tell you from experience no two are the same.Just give them plenty of love and guidance, by the time they are teenagers, the memories of all the sleepless nights, will be just that, memories, and when someone asks you how did you do it with those children so close, just smile and say it was easy!! Congratulations Amy! I am so excited for your newest addition. I really appreciate all of the love and support that you put into the NICU at Huntsville Hospital. My twins spent some time there a couple of years ago after being born 7 weeks early. Thank you for all that you are doing to bring awareness to our community. May God continue His many blessings on your family.

Hi everyone - thank you so much for your kind comments! We just feel so incredibly blessed to have Ann Catherine and Lily. And to those of you fellow "preemie parents", thanks for sharing your stories with us. I love hearing of other NICU experiences. We feel indebted to the doctors and nurses in the NICU at Huntsville Hospital. They took such good care of both Melissa and Ann Catherine. We could never thank them enough!

Congratulations, Amy and Chris!! I also have 4 kids and the they are 22 months apart and 18 months apart of course there are 8 years between the sets but it was hard at first but I put the smallest in the infant seat while letting them watch and I play with the other baby. But wait till you go back to work if you think it is hard now lord have mercy I thought I was going to pull out my hair. But it all works out and they are my blessings from GOD. Take care of you are yours and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I can't wait to see you and Jerry back together again.

Congratulations Amy. I have two teenagers who are fourteen months apart...looking back on things it was like raising twins. My son, who is the oldest, waited on his sister to do EVERYTHING (potty train, kick the bottle, etc.) My advice is this...take it one minute at at time and enjoy even the chaos. Time passes sooo quickly and one day you will look back and question, "How did I do that?" The way you do it is just through the love and strength of being a mom.
